Camera Making FUN!

So today the sun is shining, wonderful. I have spent the day in bed with coffee, radio 4 and pinhole camera making! Today i decided to convert a 127 Brownie to a 35mm pin hole camera.

Sexy, right?

Now, i'm unsure on turning the frames....so the picture taking will be a bit hit and miss, if anyone has any ideas that would be great! Also i need to redesign a tripod feature.

Will post test roll soon.

liverpool biennial PT 2

Things that i responded to.

Tate.

Sculpture room experience! Walking in with headphones blashing disco tunes, surrounded by so many amazing sculptures of people. It becomes like this strange night club, each sculpture becoming a person at the dsico. This also invited you to dance on a flashing disco floor. I really enjoyed this exhibition it made me smile but also made me nervous wander around the disco wonderland everything was so still and static, cold eye sometime catching your attention but it was all alive at the same time buzzing and energetic! I really did enjoy the german tourist getting there grove on when i entered.

Walker Art Gallery.

The bin. well wolfman tilman had work there, interesting curatorial ideas mixing in his work with the old. but the pictures were just piss poor. but the bin was fun.

Blue Coat

AMAZING! This was fun, such a great experience i have to say. Scared the poo out of me when i 1st when in, but after awhile moved through this maze of ribbons on paths or just straight through the middle i hadn't laughs so much! Now i cant find the paper with the artist name on right now so i will update later.

Noteable other exhibtions were at FACT and A founation. But i have no images!

Anyway i really enjoyed Liverpool Biennial!

liverpool biennial PT 1

creative block. creative block. creative block. bad things happen in threes.

liverpool biennial. yes! didn't help my creative block but was a really great platform for conversation about contemporary art and where it is today. tate modern got the big thumbs up from me i have to say! Dotted around the exhibition were films on what is art, looking at figures in the art movement like 'fountain' marcel duchamp;

Main points raised were 'is it art?' Ideas were a mix. The idea that anything can be art trigged a great conversation in the art world so is this work important? Or is it now old and tired and we as artist or audience are sick of highly conceptual art that has no presence or beauty? The 'anything is art' all meaning no aesthetic qualities, no different from the everything day the lack of craftsmanship and skill??

These question i feel are very important for the current movement of the now art history. The highly intelligent art that push away a lot of people from viewing, enjoying and embracing art.  I remember seeing a talk last year where an artist put a diamond in a ash tray he questioned the viewer 'do you get it?' with a smirk i found offence as if we as the viewer were stupid as we didn't understand what he was trying to say with his work. He then continued to explain a very long winded some what tenuous link to very difficult academic books.

The question i have been wondering is, is it the fault of the artist if we don't get what he/she means from just the viewing of the art, if the work doesn't engage us in conversation, narrative or a sense of emotional responses....or is it the audience?
